Advanced Foot Care Nurse (FCN)
Full-Time, Part-Time
Whole Health Care is a well-established Holistic Health & Wellness centre in Kamloops. We have provided Advanced Nursing Foot Care to Kamloops and the surrounding areas since 2013. In 2021, we opened our centre at 257 Seymour Street (in Kamloops Square), to better serve our clients and students. All foot care instrument reprocessing is completed in-house, exceeding provincial requirements. Whole Health Care is a recognized Advanced Nursing Foot Care educational institute and provides specialized training for successful candidates.

Job Summary:
An Advanced Foot Care Nurse is a regulated professional who has received additional education specific to the foot and lower limb. The objective of the Advanced Foot Care Nurse is to monitor and deliver Advanced Nursing Foot Care to patients of all ages. Care includes patient history, assessment of the foot and lower extremities, nail cutting and filing, management of corns and calluses, and identifying the need for more specialized treatments. Nurses create a treatment plan focusing on preventative measures and self-care promotion.
Key Accountabilities:

Perform Advanced Nursing Foot Care services on patients of all ages, understanding the structure and function of the foot

Understand and implement infection prevention techniques

Follow strict infection control standards for cleaning and instrument sterilization

Understanding of how disease affects the foot

Demonstration of proper application of training and competency

Participation in ongoing continuing education to maintain and enhance competencies

Complete electronic charting, scheduling of patients, and receive payment for services

Work closely with other health care professionals and make appropriate referrals
Minimum Required Qualifications:

Accreditation from a Registered Nursing program or Licensed Practical Nursing program

Registration with the BCCNM

Advanced Nursing Foot Care Certificate of Completion is an asset; successful candidates without a Certificate of Completion will be trained by Whole Health Care

Previous Advanced Nursing Foot Care experience would be an asset
Technical Requirements:

General clinical and electronic charting skills using Jane App
-
Knowledge to conduct a comprehensive assessment of feet and lower limbs
-
Awareness of health and safety while providing foot care
-
Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information
-
Provide foot care following an individualized patient treatment plan
-
Experience with high-risk patients (diabetes) is an asset
-
Collaboration and referrals with other health care professionals

Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team

Time management skills and the ability to exercise independent judgement

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
